How to Play
Guess the Word challenges players to identify a hidden word based on a clue. The facilitator shares a short description, synonym, or category hint, and players try to guess the target word. The game can be played competitively (first correct guess wins the round) or collaboratively (the group works together to find the answer). It is a fantastic educational tool for vocabulary development and works equally well as a lighthearted party game.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Click 'Next Word' to get a random word and its clue.
Read the clue aloud to the group. Do not reveal the word.
Players call out their guesses. The facilitator says 'correct' when someone gets it.
If no one guesses after 30 seconds, offer an additional hint.
Click 'Reveal Answer' to show the word. Briefly discuss if the clue was helpful.
Click 'Next Word' for a new round. Track correct guesses if playing competitively.
Tips for Hosts
Choose difficulty levels appropriate to your group. Simpler words for younger players.
For classroom use, select words that reinforce current vocabulary lessons.
Allow creative guesses — sometimes players find a better match than the intended answer.
Keep the pace brisk. If a word stumps everyone for too long, reveal it and move on.
For team competition, alternate which team guesses first each round.
