How to Play
Show and Tell is one of the oldest and most reliable connection activities. Each participant brings or finds an object that has personal meaning and shares its story with the group. The object could be anything: a family photo, a souvenir from travel, a gift from a friend, or even something from their desk. The story behind the object is what matters. Show and Tell creates vulnerability in a safe way, allowing group members to see each other as whole people rather than just colleagues or classmates.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Give participants 2-3 minutes to find or think of a meaningful object nearby.
Use the tool to generate a prompt if people need inspiration (e.g., 'Share something you have had for over 5 years').
Each person takes 1-2 minutes to show their object on camera or hold it up, and tell its story.
After each person shares, the group can ask one or two curious questions.
Move to the next person. With large groups, select 4-5 volunteers rather than going around the whole room.
Close by thanking everyone for sharing and acknowledging the trust shown.
Tips for Hosts
Go first as the facilitator to model vulnerability and set the tone.
No object is too small or ordinary. The story is what makes it special.
Respect the intimacy of the activity. Do not rush people or cut stories short.
For remote teams, encourage people to physically hold the object up to the camera.
If someone does not have an object, they can share a photo or describe a meaningful item from memory.
